First National Bank (1963)

Architect for the First National Bank was Melvin Rojko for the Bank Building & Equipment Corporation of America.  It is currently operating as a Bank of the West.  Four drive-in teller windows were positioned around the circumference of the building to serve customers, much like a drive-in restaurant.  As this building opened in 1963, it was one year after a similar building was built in Nampa, Idaho designed by the Bank Building & Equipment Corporation.   The two buildings have striking similarities, with the main difference being First National’s deeper eave, giving the entire building more of the mid-century modern period space-age effect.
